HYPEST — Hoe vaak per week kickboksen als beginner? Dit werkt echt

How often should you kickbox as a beginner?

You don't need five gym nights a week to become a strong kickboxer. As a beginner, that's often how you get tired, frustrated and injury-prone.

Here's how often to kickbox as a beginner, how to build a plan, when to rest, and which mistakes to skip. Practical, the way we'd want to hear it after class one with shaking legs.

In short

  • Start with 2 kickboxing sessions a week while your body gets used to punches, kicks and fitness work.
  • 3 times a week can come after a few weeks, if you recover well and niggles don't pile up.
  • More than 4 sessions a week is too much for most beginners and raises overload risk.
  • Technique before power, especially in the first 6 to 8 weeks.
  • Good kit helps you train more comfortably, safer, and with more confidence.

How often should you kickbox as a beginner?

As a beginner, 2 to 3 times a week is the sweet spot. Enough stimulus to get better, enough time to recover.

At Hypest we often see women start mega motivated. New gloves, first class booked, playlist on. Beautiful. Kickboxing still asks a lot. Shoulders, core, hips, legs, ankles and fitness at once. Even if you're already fit, class one feels different from a run or a weights session.

Training advice for beginners often lands on 2 to 3 times a week. More than 4 sessions can lead to overtraining and injuries faster. Not because you're weak. Tendons, joints and technique need time.

A good start: train twice a week for the first 3 to 4 weeks. Body feels good, sleep is fine, no lingering pain? Then go to 3. If every session leaves you with three days of stairs-are-personal muscle pain, stay at 2 a bit longer.

Tip: plan at least one rest day between kickboxing sessions. Monday and Thursday beats Monday and Tuesday at full gas.

Which kickboxing plan works for beginners?

A good beginner plan mixes technique, fitness and rest days. You don't have to go max every session to progress.

The first weeks are repetition. Stance, jab, cross, low kick, defence, footwork. It sounds basic. That's your base. Get that right and you get faster, stronger and sharper later.

Frequency For who? How it feels Advice
2 times a week Most beginners Challenging, recoverable Best start for 3 to 4 weeks
3 times a week After you recover well Fitter, still room to rest Add the third session when niggles stay away
4+ times a week Rarely beginners High overload risk Wait until technique and recovery are solid

Technique first. Power comes. In the first 6 to 8 weeks, clean punches and kicks beat wild swinging. Your body learns the pattern. Then you can add intensity.

Good kit helps you last. Gloves that fit, wraps that support, shin guards when kicks start. Our Hypest Burgundy Knockout boxing gloves are made for women's hands.

Questions you probably have

How often should I kickbox as a beginner?

Start with 2 times a week. After a few weeks, if you recover well, 3 times a week can work. More than 4 is too much for most beginners.

Can I train every day?

Not as a beginner. Your joints, tendons and technique need rest. Daily sessions raise injury risk faster than they raise skill.

When can I add a third session?

When sleep is fine, muscle pain fades in a day or two, and you have no lingering niggles. Usually after 3 to 4 weeks at twice a week.

Does technique really matter more than power at the start?

Yes. The first 6 to 8 weeks are for patterns: stance, punches, kicks, guard. Power on a messy pattern just grooms bad habits.
