3 tips to combat bad odors in your boxing gloves.

Every martial artist knows exactly what smell we are talking about. You walk into a boxing gym and the smell immediately hits you. In addition, you may still smell the musty odor on your hands hours after training, even after washing your hands several times!

Sweat and moisture are the culprits of these odors in your boxing gloves and unfortunately cannot be prevented during good boxing training. Admit it, that sweat makes you feel like you gave it your all during training.

What can you do about those unpleasant odors in your boxing gloves?

We have 3 tips against smelly boxing gloves so that you can train odor-free:

  1. Always wear hand wraps during your boxing training. The hand wraps absorb sweat and prevent direct contact with the boxing gloves on a large part of your hands. Make sure that you wash the hand wraps after each training at a minimum of 40 degrees using a laundry bag . This way you remove all the bacteria and they smell fresh during the next training.
  2. Let your boxing gloves air well after training in a dry place. Make sure that the opening of the glove is fully open so that most of the moisture can escape from the glove immediately.
  3. Once you have let the boxing gloves air out for a few hours, it is time to place moisture absorbers in the boxing gloves. Use moisture absorbers with charcoal. Charcoal naturally absorbs moisture and does not smell. It also neutralizes odors. The Hypest Moisture Absorbers are made with charcoal and also leave a wonderful lavender scent, giving you fresh boxing gloves again!

By following the above tips you can prevent unpleasant odors in your boxing gloves, but it is good to know that high-quality boxing gloves also contribute to this. Wear leather gloves and not PMU/vegan leather boxing gloves and replace your boxing gloves once every few years (depending on how often and how intensively you box).
